What is the Appellate Approach?

Everyday, news publications are filled with updates on what’s happening at the United States Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit, the Fifth Circuit, etc. Comparatively little attention is paid to Wisconsin’s appellate courts. The Appellate Approach fills that space, offering insights on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, and the Seventh Circuit.

Who am I?

My name is Caleb Gerbitz. I’m an attorney with the Milwaukee law firm of Meissner Tierney Fisher & Nichols. After law school, I clerked at the Wisconsin Supreme Court for two years, and my interest in writing and Wisconsin’s appellate courts hasn’t stopped since. I maintain an active law practice, specializing in appellate and commercial litigation, and, in my free time, I write about appellate practice. Given that my practice focuses on civil litigation, this Stubstack similarly focuses on civil cases in Wisconsin’s appellate courts.
